Wheaton names new Vice President
May 17, 1999
Wheaton College President Dale Rogers Marshall recently announced the appointment of Rick Wallick, of Plainville, Mass., as the college's vice president for finance and operations. The appointment concludes a rigorous national search.
Mr. Wallick, who has served the college as assistant vice president since 1987, will assume his new position on July 1. He earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Dartmouth College and an M.B.A. from Boston College, and he established a distinguished career in higher education finance at Dartmouth and Boston College prior to serving Wheaton.
"Rick's outstanding record at Wheaton qualifies him to bring strong leadership as we implement major initiatives to promote academic excellence and market competiveness. I feel very lucky to have someone of Rick's caliber who can hit the ground running and build on the strong foundation established by Ed Merck [who is retiring from the position]," says President Marshall.
Mr. Wallick's accomplishments include the refinancing of debt to achieve major savings, redesigning the college's financial statements in accordance with new regulations and working effectively with college constituencies, including the board of trustees and President's Council.
Wheaton College is a private coeducational liberal arts college with a 1,400-member student body drawn from 45 states and 35 countries. It is a member of the Twelve College Exchange, which also includes Amherst, Bowdoin, Connecticut College, Dartmouth, Mount Holyoke, Smith, Trinity, Vassar, Wellesley, Wesleyan and Williams.
