The Wallace Library's collection of electronic journals and newspapers includes over 75,000 subscribed and/or freely available titles. The following list includes descriptions of ejournal collections, publisher sites that provide full text articles for subscribed titles, a selection of titles on subscription available only in digital format, and a selection of sites that provide free or open access full text articles.

Accessible Archives. A collection of primary source material from 18th and 19th century periodicals, including African American newspapers, Civil War era newspapers, and state histories up to 1900 for New England states, mid-Atlantic and Southeastern states.
African Journal Archive. A retrospective digitization project of over 200 full text journal articles in the sciences, social sciences and humanities published in Africa.
AgEcon. A free, open access repository of full text scholarly literature in agricultural and applied economics, including: working papers, conference papers and articles from over 90 journals. From the University of Minnesota.
AltPress Watch. A full text database of over 270 newspapers, magazines and journals from alternative and independent presses; publication dates vary from the 1980's, 1990's or 2000's to the present.
American Chemical Society (ACS). The ACS Legacy Archives offers a searchable full text database of all journals published by the ACS from 1879 to 1995. The web editions subscription package includes the full text of all ACS journals published from 1996 to the present.
American Economic Association. Full text access to current content of all AEA publications. The earlier content for the American Economic Review, the Journal of Economic Literature, and the Journal of Economic Perspectives is available in JSTOR.
American Geophysical Union (AGU). Full text coverage varies by title. UPDATE: Now accessible in Wiley Online Journals
American Museum of Natural History Research Library. Free access to the Museum's publications. Covers the areas of zoological systematics, paleontology, geology, evolution, and anthropology.
American Periodicals Series Online (APS). A collection of over 1,500 digitized American periodicals published between 1740 and 1900. Includes special interest and general magazines, literary and professional journals, and children's and women's magazines. The APS collection can be searched separately, or combined with one or more of the ProQuest databases.
Ammons Scientific Publications. Full text access to Perceptual and Motor Skills and Psychological Reports. Coverage is vol. 1 to the present.
Annual Reviews. Entire database can be searched and full text access is limited to the titles that the library subscribes to in electronic format. Full text coverage is 1996 or 1997 to the present. The full text of earlier volumes of the Annual Review of Anthropology, Annual Review of Ecology and Systematics, and the Annual Review of Sociology is available in JSTOR.
AnthroSource. Developed by the American Anthropological Association and now published by Wiley-Blackwell. Full text access to all the AAA's journals. Dates of coverage varies by title.

Art Full Text. Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Digital Library. The library's subscription to the Digital Library, aka ACM Portal, contains the full text of all online publications, including journals, magazines, transactions, proceedings, newsletters, SIGs, and publications by affliated organizations. Full text coverage for most titles is vol. 1 to the present.
Atlanta Historic Newspapers Archive. Includes newspapers published in the Atlanta region from 1847-1922. From the Digital Library of Georgia, University of Georgia Libraries.
Australasian Legal Information Institute (AustLII). Free resource for Australian legal information. AustLII is a joint facility of the UTS and UNSW Faculties of Law.
Australian Periodical Publications 1840-1845. Free access to 65 periodicals published from 1840-1845. Produced by the Australian Cooperative Digitisation Project.
Austrian Newspapers Online. Free access to over 460 Austrian newspapers published from the 18th to the 20th centuries. Produced by the Österreichische Nationalbibliothek.
Bangladesh Journals Online. A collection of over 110 journals in all disciplines published in Bangladesh.
Bentham Open Access. Over 240 open access journals in science, technology, and medicine. Full text coverage begins in 2008.
Biodiversity Heritage Library. BHL is a "consortium of natural history and botanical libraries that cooperate to digitize and make accessible the legacy literature of biodiversity held in their collections and to make that literature available for open access." Includes over 55,000 books and journals.
Bioline International. A fully open access provider of over 80 quality bioscience journals published in developing countries.
BioMed Central. Over 400 open access journals in the sciences. Dates of coverage varies.
BioOne. A collaboration among scientific societies, libraries, academe, and the commercial sector, the library's subscription to BioOne and BioOne.2 provides a searchable database and full text access to over 190 journals in the biological, ecological, and environmental sciences. Full text coverage for most titles is 2000 to the present.
Brill Online Journals. A collection of over 240 scholarly journals published by Brill. Subjects areas include Asian studies, Near East and Islamic studies, classics, religion, medieval and early history, philosophy, international law and human rights, psychology, sociology, materials science, chemistry, physics and engineering, and zoology. Full text coverage for most titles is 2000 to the present.
British History Online. A digital library containing some of the core printed primary and secondary sources for the medieval and modern history of the British Isles, such as the journals of the Houses of Parliament. Created by the Institute of Historical Research and the History of Parliament Trust.
CAIRN Free Journals. A collection of over 330 journals in the humanities and social sciences. Some titles are completely open access, other titles have an embargo of 2-3 years. Mostly in French.
California Digital Newspaper Collection. "A freely accessible repository of digitized California newspapers published from 1846 to the present."
Cambridge Journals Online. Full text access is available for almost all (currently 363 titles) of the Cambridge University Press journals. Full text coverage for most titles is 1997 to the present.
Canadian Historic Newspapers. 90 digitized newspapers from Multicultural Canada, Multicultural Alberta, Peel's Prairie Provinces, Manitobia, Bibilotheque Nationale du Quebec, and the Prince George Newspaper Project.
Caribbean Newspaper Digital Library. Provides access to the digitized versions of more than 170 Caribbean newspapers, gazettes, and other research materials. Part of the Digital Library of the Caribbean.
Chronicle of Higher Education. Unlimited access to all parts of the Chronicle's web site, which is updated daily, five times a week. The full text of the weekly newspaper is available every Monday. The searchable archive includes all issues from September 1989, and individual issues can be browsed beginning with January 1995. Also included in the database is the annual Chronicle Almanac, a compilation of college enrollment trends, demographics, faculty pay, tuition fees, and other statistics.
Chronicling America: Historic American Newspapers. Search and view newspaper pages from 1836-1922 and find information about American newspapers published between 1690 to the present. Chronicling America is sponsored jointly by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Library of Congress as part of the National Digital Newspaper Program (NDNP).
Columbus (Ga.) Enquirer Archive. Full text of the Enquirer from 1828-1890. From the Digital Library of Georgia.
Compact Memory. The database contains actual reproductions of the most important research journals for German-Jewish history, covering the entire German-speaking world and published from the 19th century until the Nazi rise to power in 1933. Project funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft.
Conservation OnLine. Full text library of conservation information, covering a wide spectrum of topics of interest to those involved with the conservation of library, archives and museum materials.

Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA). Headquartered in Dakar Senegal, CODESRIA was established in 1973 as an independent Pan-African research organisation with a primary focus on the social sciences. Free access to 8 journals.
CQ Press. Full text access to CQ Global Researcher, 2007-2012, CQ Researcher, 1991 to the present and CQ Weekly, 1983 to the present.

Digital Library of the Commons. The Digital Library of the Commons (DLC) provides free access to an archive of international literature on the commons, common-pool resources and common property. Includes the full text for over 60 journals.

EUFeeds. Maintained by the European Journalism Centre in the Netherlands, EUFeeds is a RSS aggregator for European newspapers that provides access to more than 1,000 papers from the European Union.
Exilpresse Digital. A collection of 31 German exile magazines and newspapers from 1933-1945 including some Jewish publications. Produced by the German National Library (Deutsche Nationalbibliothek) from collections in the German Library in Frankfurt am Main. Mostly in German, but some articles are in English and/or Spanish.
Farm, Field and Fireside. Over 20 historically significant U.S. farm weeklies published in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Digitized by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Gale Databases. A fully searchable collection of scholarly journals, news magazines, and popular titles. These databases are all provided by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners and the Massachusetts Library System, with state and federal funding through the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Ingenta/Ingenta Connect An aggregator for British and U.S. publishers. Full text access is available for over 70 subscriptions to publications of the American Sociological Association, OECD economic surveys, and other publishers. The entire database is searchable and articles for which we do not have a subscription are available for purchase. Dates of coverage vary by publisher.
Institute of Physics. Full text access to the titles that the library subscribes to in electronic format, plus free open access journals.
International Monetary Fund Periodicals. Full text access to 25 journals published by the IMF.
Internet Center for Wildlife Damage Management. Provides research-based information on how to responsibly handle wildlife damage problems. Publications maintained at the DigitalCommons @ University of Nebraska - Lincoln include journals, newsletters, proceedings, and annual reports.
Internet Library of Early Journals. A collection of 18th and 19th century British journals, including the Annual Register. Digitized by the Universities of Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester and Oxford.
JAMA (Journal of the American Medical Association). Published continuously since 1883, JAMA is an international peer reviewed, and the "most widely circulated," general medical journal in the world. Fully searchable back to 1966, with subscribed full text articles available from 1998 to the present.
Journals of Himalayan Studies. Initially produced by the Department of Social Anthropology at Cambridge University to preserve in a digital medium archival anthropological materials from the Himalayan region. Includes over 40 full text journals. In English, Sanskrit or French.
J-STAGE (Japan Science and Technology Information Aggregator, Electronic). Includes the full text of over 500 journals, proceedings, and reports from Japanese scientific societies. Subjects include biology, chemistry, earth sciences, engineering, mathematics, medicine, physics, science, and zoology. In Japanese and English.
JSTOR. A searchable database containing the full text of over 2,200 core scholarly journals from various publishers and in multiple disciplines. Coverage for each title begins with volume 1 and up to 1 to 7 years from the current issue. The Library's subscription package includes the Jewish Studies, Arts & Sciences I-XII1, Jewish Studies, and Life Sciences collections. Plus, the Library now subscribes to over 70 titles in the Current Scholarship Collection, including all of the University of Chicago Press publications, plus some journals published by the University of California Press. Full text articles replicate the original published format and may be converted to PDF format.

LION (Literature Online). A collection of searchable indexes, bibliographies, and full text literary and reference databases. Primary texts include English and American poetry, English fiction, and English and American drama, ranging from 600 to the early 20th century. LION also includes the full text of over 380 journals. Literature Resource Center. Biographical information, overviews, full text literary criticism and reviews on nearly 130,000 writers in all disciplines, from all time periods and from around the world. Includes the Gale series Contemporary Authors and the Dictionary of Literary Biography, plus over 480 literary journals.
Macon (Ga.) Telegraph Archive. Full text of the Telegraph from 1826-1908. From the Digital Library of Georgia.
Making of America (MOA) from the Library of Congress, or Making of America (MOA) from University of Michigan. MOA is a digital library of primary sources in American social history from the antebellum period through reconstruction. Made possible by a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the collection contains material from sites maintained by Cornell University, the University of Michigan, and the Library of Congress. Over 50,000 full text journal articles from the 19th century are available, from more than 50 publications such as: Atlantic Monthly, Harper's New Monthly Magazine, Ladies' Repository, Scientific American, Scribner's, and Vanity Fair.
Milledgeville Historic Newspapers Archive. Produced by the Digital Library of Georgia at the University of Georgia Libraries, the archive contains newspapers published between 1808 to 1920 in Milledgeville, the state capital from 1803 to 1868.

Modernist Journals Project. The MJP is a major resource for the study of modernism and its rise in the English-speaking world, with periodical literature as its central concern. Dates of coverage: 1890 to 1922. Some titles include The New Age 1907-1922, Poetry 1912-1922, and Scribner's Magazine 1910-1922. Sponsored by the Brown University Library.
NASA Astrophysics Data System. A digital library portal for researchers in astronomy and physics, operated by the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory (SAO) under a NASA grant. The ADS maintains three bibliographic databases containing more than 7.3 million records: Astronomy and Astrophysics, Physics, and arXiv e-prints. Includes full text back files of 65 journals.
Nation, National Review and New Republic Archives. Titles can be searched separately or cross-searched. Full text coverage: the Nation 1865 to the present, the National Review 1955 to the present, and the New Republic 1914 to the present.
National Academy of Sciences. Full text access to the Proceedings from vol. 1, 1915 to the present. Coverage in PNAS spans the biological, physical, and social sciences. PNAS is published weekly in print, and daily online in PNAS Early Edition.
National Geographic Magazine Archive. High quality photojournalism, maps, and in-depth coverage of cultures, nature, science, technology and the environment. Coverage from 1888 to 1994.
National Library of Australia Historic Australian Newspapers, 1803-1954. Some of the available digitized newspapers include: the Argus (Melbourne), the Brisbane Courier, the Canberra Times, the Northern Territory Times, the Perth Gazette, and the Sydney Gazette and New South Wales Advertiser.
Nature. Published weekly, Nature Online provides peer-reviewed research in all fields of science and technology on the basis of its "originality, importance, interdisciplinary interest, timeliness, accessibility, elegance and surprising conclusions." Full text access is available from 1997 to the present.
Nature Open Access. Free access to the backfiles (1 year to 5 years ago) of 65 journals from the Nature Publishing Group.
NCSE (Nineteenth-Century Serials Edition) Facsimiles. NCSE includes free access to six nineteenth-century periodicals and newspapers. It is a collaboration between Birkbeck, University of London, King's College London (Centre for Computing in the Humanities and the Department of English), the British Library, and Olive Software." Includes the English Woman's Journal 1858-1864.
New England Journal of Medicine. Published weekly, NEJM is the world's oldest continuously published medical journal. This peer-reviewed journal contains editorials, papers on original research, review articles, book reviews, correspondences, and case reports. Published by the Massachusetts Medical Society. Full text available from 1812 (includes previous titles: New-England journal of medicine and surgery 1812-1826, New England medical review and journal 1827, the Boston medical and surgical journal 1827-1928), to the present.
New York Review of Books. Fully searchable database includes access to all articles published from 1963 to the present.
NUMDAM. NUMérisation de Documents Anciens Mathématiques (NUMDAM) includes the full text of over 90 mathematics journals from vol. 1 (some from the 19th century) to the 2000's. In French and English.
Oxford Journals (OUP). Full text access is available for almost all (currently 306 titles) of the Oxford University Press journals. Full text coverage varies from the late 1990's or 2000 to the present.
Papers Past. A collection of over 80 newspapers published in New Zealand from 1839 to 1932.
Periodici Italiani Digitalizzati. From the Biblioteca di Archeologia e Storia dell'Arte, over 800,000 images digitized from 124 Italian periodicals held by the Library and published between the eighteenth and early twentieth century. Access is free, but individual users must register. In Italian.

Project Muse. A searchable database of over 580 full text scholarly journals, mostly university press titles, in the humanities and social sciences. Full text begins in the year that the journal was added to the Project Muse database, up to the present. NOTE: Some Duke University Press journals are no longer available in Project Muse for 2005+; these titles are now available directly from Duke. The Library's subscription now includes over 1,900 ebooks.
ProQuest Newspapers. This collection includes the full text of: the New York Times historical database (1851-2009) with indexing and full text articles and full page images, the New York Times current database (1980+) with full text articles and limited images, the Boston Globe (1980+), Wall Street Journal current database (1984+) with full text articles and limited images, the Washington Post historical database (1877-1996) with indexing and full text articles and full page images, and the Washington Post current database (1987+) with full text articles and limited images.
The newspapers in the current and the historical files may be searched separately, or combined with any of the other newspapers or with any other ProQuest database.
Full text is not available for any articles affected by the Supreme Court ruling on the Tasini case (freelance writers and copyright).

SAO/NASA Astrophysics Data System. Digitized microfilms from selected historical publications in astronomy, including observatory reports, bulletins and annals. Collection from the John G. Wolbach Library at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics.
Science. Published weekly by the American Association for the Advancement of Science, Science Online provides access to the complete Science database from October 1995 to the current issue, fully searchable, with hyperlinks to related scientific resources.
Science Direct. Full text access is available for over 2,400 subscribed and/or open access titles, plus 11 online encyclopedias published by Elsevier. Full text coverage for the former Academic Press titles is 1993 to the present; for almost all other titles, full text is available from 1995 to the present. Scientific American Online. The "world's premier magazine of scientific discovery and technological innovation for the general public," Scientific American is now available on the Nature Publishing Group platform. Database is fully searchable back to 1948; subscribed access is 1993 to the present.
