Come to the Fair!

On an ordinary day, learning how to use the library’s slew of academic resources may seem time-consuming but Library & Information Services wants to make the process more fun and less overwhelming. On Thursday, October 24th, the Wallace Library staff will be hosting a Digital Resources Fair featuring new technologies that can aid students in their research. According to Gloria Baker, Director of Library Services, the event aims to “showcase resources students may not be aware of, or, if they are, give them an opportunity to ask questions and find out a little bit more about how to use them.”
Located in the Library Atrium, the fair will feature themed tables that will showcase different resources, such as streaming videos, statistical databases, e-books, historical and primary sources, citation tools, and new and popular e-resources. Participants who visit every resource table have the opportunity to enter a raffle, where they can win anything from Lyon’s Bucks to Wheaton gear, such as T-shirts, sweatshirts, and other items from the College Bookstore.
Social media users can also benefit from attending by sharing photos of the event on Instagram or Twitter. “The prize for the 2 best pictures is an Amazon gift card” Gloria noted.
More than just an information-based event, the Digital Resources Fair is intended to be both fun and educational for participants. With a popcorn machine and balloons on hand, the occasion invites students to not only learn from the experience, but also, to enjoy it.
