Student Workers Abroad » Maggie Cummons in Italy
"I traveled to Cortona, Italy in the fall of 2009, where I specifically studied studio art and history. I learned a great deal about Italian culture, especially the significance of art history in the country. The program itself is affiliated with the University of Georgia Lamar Dodd School of Art and usually runs fairly small in numbers (about 50 students). The town of Cortona is quite small, and the programs' campus is limited in terms of research tools and facilities. There is one room designated as the "library," and internet access is fairly constrained. In comparison to Wheaton, the library resources in Cortona are drastically different. The ease of accessibility of research tools at Wheaton can sometimes be overlooked, and I think I appreciate this accessibility more now that I have had such a different experience."
