HISP: 350 One Hundred Years of Solitude: Fundación mítica de Latinoamérica

The main goal of the course is to provide the students with theoretical tools to facilitate a critical reading of Hundred Years of Solitude. Throughout a close analysis of the novel the student will be able to study its narrative structure; the mythical foundation of its characters and literary topoi, and the contextual-historical background of the Latin-American cultural and literary traditions.

Students will have the opportunity to know the main scholarly approaches in the study of the novel, however the focus of the course is not to insist in repeating what the critics have already pointed out about Hundred Years of Solitude, but to allow the students to develop their own fresh analytical reading.
