These Roots Run Deep

Posted on March 21, 2014

Anthropology Professor Donna Kerner has been leading a group of Wheaton students to Tanzania for many summers, where they travel to different development projects, live in a rural village, and teach English in local schools. In 2013, The Wheaton in Tanzania faculty-led program visited a new tree nursery in the Rombo district. The nursery has been dedicated in Wheaton's name in appreciation for teaching students have done over the years. In order to spread awareness about the issue of deforestation in Tanzania, the group created the digital story, "These Roots Run Deep."

This summer, the Wheaton in Tanzania group plans to "incorporate a conservation component" into their lesson plans.
