Student-Faculty Research Fund
The Student-Faculty Research Fund is an individually named fund that provides opportunity for a student in a field of study preferred by the donor.
This program provides a $5,000 grant for each faculty–student research team, including a $3,000 stipend for the student researcher. The stipend is particularly important for students who depend upon their summer earnings to help pay for their college education. The paid fellowships allow the students to earn their summer income while also engaging in a valuable research project. The professors in these partnerships receive a $1,000 stipend for their work and $1,000 to cover project expenses.
The demand for Student-Faculty Research Fund grants to support summer scholarship collaborations exceeds the college’s ability to fund them from the annual operating budget or endowed funds dedicated for that purpose. In fact, we receive twice as many applications as our budget can support. Demand has doubled in recent years, and we expect this growth to continue as more emphasis is placed on scholarly research in keeping with Wheaton’s strategic plan.
