Strengthening Ties to Community
You enhance the student experience thereby strengthening ties to community with your gift through the Wheaton Fund.
As a Wheaton Fund donor, you support all aspects of the college experience. When you direct your funds to Strengthening Ties to Community, you create an environment at Wheaton that allows students the opportunity to be the difference at Wheaton and beyond.
Michelle Menacho ’17 will be the first in her family to graduate from college in the United States.
Majoring in Hispanic studies and secondary education (with minors in Latin American studies and psychology), Michelle has taken advantage of the opportunity to explore a variety of interests at Wheaton.
For the past two summers, she worked at the Explo Program, where she taught English language to children of Russian, Chinese and Portuguese heritage. As much as she fulfilled the role of a mentor—she insists she learned a lot from the young participants.
As a senior, Michelle is working with Cassandra "Cassie" Peltola ’14—assistant director of community service and engagement in Wheaton's Office of Service, Spirituality and Social Responsibility—on kickstarting a literacy program for low-income preschoolers with Head Start in Norton, Mass.
With your Wheaton Fund gift, you provide the resources, for Michelle and others, to support college programs that promote social responsibility, including community service—locally and across the globe.
