The Mary Lyon Society

The Mary Lyon Society recognizes and honors those who support the college through gifts to the Wheaton Fund at a leadership level. Since its inception in 2000, the Mary Lyon Society has grown to include close to 850 alumnae and alumni, parents and friends. Leadership giving by members of the Mary Lyon Society accounts for more than 85 percent of the Wheaton Fund's total each year.

Increased annual giving to the college has not only helped to address pressing needs, but has also reduced spending of endowment income, thus preserving Wheaton's long-term financial resources.

The Founders Society

The Founders Society honors those individuals who have chosen to support future generations of students by including Wheaton in their estate plans.

"From the earliest days of this institution, Eliza Wheaton, Mary Lyon and their colleagues stressed the importance of the individual mind and person--especially, the minds and persons of women. They did everything they could to equip them for happy, healthy and useful lives. They were revolutionary spirits, our founders, progressive in philosophy and outlook and fearless in promoting the welfare of their students. Our founders instinctively believed in the power of education to transform lives."

               - President Ronald A. Crutcher,
               Inaugural Address to the College

Today, members of the Founders Society carry on the visionary philosophy of Wheaton's pioneers.
