Mars Center for Science and Technology
In October 2011 the college community achieved a major milestone in Go Beyond: Campaign for Wheaton by reaching the fundraising target for the Mars Center for Science and Technology.
Alumnae/i, parents and friends contributed $35,011,279 toward the $42 million project, the largest building effort in the college's history. Their generosity sends a clear and encouraging message of support for the sciences at Wheaton.
The Mars Center promotes the college's Connections curriculum through spaces that facilitate interdisciplinary learning and research as well as collaboration among students and faculty. It also looks to the future with room for expansion and an environmentally-friendly design that won LEED gold certification.
Go Beyond: Campaign for Wheaton seeks to raise $120 million by June 30, 2014. It also will increase support for student scholarships; faculty and student research; and, through the Wheaton Fund, all academic and cocurricular programs.
