Though small, the collection of shoes from South America features two very special pairs of shoes.
The first is a pair of shoes from Venezuela. A child would have worn these shoes; they are made of red and green woven material.
The second pair of shoes derives from Argentina. Called the "Golden Slippers," this pair of shoes belonged to Lily Pons. Her autograph can be seen on the heel of the right foot shoe. Lily Pons was a French-born singer who became the principal soprano at the Metropolitan Opera in New York from 1931-1960.
