Students enrolled in the fiction workshops at Wheaton learn how to construct stories using literary elements such as characterization, dialogue, and point of view. In the introductory workshop, CW 284, workshop participants study and practice the techniques of writing the character-driven story through guided exercises. The advanced fiction workshop, CW 384, allows workshop participants to build on the skills learned in the introductory workshop, while focusing closely on the structures of their novels, novellas, and short fiction. Students enrolled in both workshops enjoy the benefits of working interactively with their peers in a supportive environment that brings together creative expression and critical thinking.
