Classes and most activities cancelled for Monday
Classes at Wheaton College are cancelled for Monday, February 11, due to the continuing efforts to clear snow from campus roads, pathways, and building entrances and exits. Also, organized activities are cancelled until 4 p.m. Monday.
The college will continue all essential services, including dining services at Emerson and Chase. In additional, the Loft, Balfour-Hood Center, the fitness center and the bookstore will be open during regularly scheduled hours. (Check the list on the right for details on what is open and closed.)
The women’s basketball game scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday will take place at Haas Athletic Center as planned. However, the Rebecca Chopp lecture scheduled for tomorrow evening will be rescheduled.
Students are urged to take care when moving about the campus.
Dedicated crews have been working nonstop since the blizzard began on Friday afternoon. Priority has been placed on clearing snow around residence and dining halls, and a great deal of progress has been made throughout the campus. However, many academic buildings and other facilities still require attention for safety.
All nonessential personnel should not report to work. The first shift has been cancelled for Monday. However, the second and third shifts will take place as regularly scheduled. Staff in departments that are considered essential should plan on reporting to campus as regularly scheduled. For Monday's first shift only, Building Services does not need to report.
Supervisors are responsible for coordinating schedules so that services continue.
Parking restrictions remain in place.
The college anticipates resuming classes and organized activities on Tuesday. Please continue to monitor the website and your email for any additional updates.
Further updates will be distributed by the college’s emergency notification system as well as by email and on the web.
