Update: Classes begin at 11 a.m. today (Oct. 30)

Posted on October 30, 2012

The college plans to resume classes at 11 a.m. today (Tuesday, Oct. 30). Classes scheduled before 11 a.m. have been canceled to allow for clean up and safe travel to campus.

Because conditions may vary throughout southern New England, some faculty members may choose to cancel an individual class if they are unable to reach campus safely. However, students should plan to attend any regularly scheduled classes unless they are informed of a cancellation directly by their professor.

Networking Issues

The campus is experiencing some computer networking issues due to the storm. Some areas on campus may not be working or may be working intermittently.

Information Technology staff will investigate and deal with them as quickly as possible. Meanwhile, please remember that when you return to campus:

  • If you suspect your computer equipment may have gotten wet or is in an area that is wet, DO NOT PLUG IT IN OR TURN IT ON, call 3900 ASAP and we will check the equipment out as soon as we open at 11:00AM.
  • If the area and your equipment are dry, please remember to plug in all equipment before turning it on.
  • Please follow the same precautions with your personal computer equipment.

For Staff and Faculty

Non-essential staff members should plan on reporting to campus for work at 11 a.m.

Staff in departments that are considered essential, which includes dining halls and all physical plant employees, should plan on reporting to campus as regularly scheduled. Supervisors are responsible for coordinating schedules so that services continue.

Any faculty or staff member concerned about personal safety or unable to get to campus is responsible for notifying supervisors or canceling individual classes. Please refer to the college weather policy regarding reporting for work on campus: http://wheatoncollege.edu/hr/2012/09/07/inclement-weather-policy/
