UPDATE: Wheaton and Hurricane Sandy (Monday, 11:15 a.m.)
Posted on October 29, 2012
The Wheaton campus is currently experiencing early effects of Hurricane Sandy, but the campus continues to have full electrical power, provide essential services to students and has not sustained any significant storm damage.
The college is in regular contact with local public safety officials and the utility company, National Grid, to coordinate response to the storm.
For safety, students should stay indoors as much as possible, and we urge all members of the campus community to exercise caution when moving across campus to avoid falling debris and other unsafe conditions. [Please note addition: the fitness center is closed today and the library will close at noon.]
In addition, students should plan to keep cell phones and other mobile devices charged. In the event of a power outage, the college will use the emergency notification system to communicate via text and voicemail message as well as through the residential life staff and its online channels.
More information on college operations, including the resumption of classes, will be shared by early evening. Please check the college web site for further updates.
