Sunday morning update on Hurricane Sandy
Posted on October 28, 2012
Wheaton College officials have made necessary emergency preparations and are continuing to monitor forecasts for Hurricane Sandy. At this time, we have decided to keep the campus open and we will hold classes on Monday.
Faculty and staff should refer to the college weather policy regarding reporting for work on campus.
If you worry for your own safety or cannot get to campus, it is your responsibility to notify your supervisor and to cancel your classes.
In preparation for the storm, we ask that students make sure that all windows in dorms are kept closed, and that you have stocked up on any prescribed medications that you may require.
Students with medical conditions who would require assistance if dorms are evacuated should notify residential life staff or your RA or AC, so that they will be able to assist you as soon as possible.
Once the storm arrives, we suggest that you stay indoors. During any storm, we urge you to exercise caution to avoid falling debris and other unsafe conditions.
Public safety officials and other staff members will be in regular contact with Norton emergency officials as well as with the National Weather Service for updates on the hurricane. And we will keep the campus updated and informed as details unfold. Check Wheaton’s homepage to get the most up to date information:
We encourage all students, faculty and staff to remain attentive to our website for updates. We want everyone to be safe.
