Professor Bartolini Studies Education in Finland

Posted on June 5, 2012

With funding from the Williams faculty chair award, Professor Bartolini traveled to Helsinki, Finland to study their early childhood programs. Finland consistently maintains top tier educational international standing as measured by the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA).  Professor Bartolini had the privilege of being hosted by Lasse Lipponen, Professor of Education (Early Childhood Education) and Director of Kindergarten Teacher and Early Childhood Education at the University of Helsinki.  Professor Lipponen arranged for Professor Bartolini to visit the Central Union for Child Welfare, the Trade Union of Education in Finland, the day care center Vironniemi, and the Viikki Teacher Training School.  Finland's schools have attracted worldwide attention because of the nation's excellent teacher training programs and holistic approach to education quality.
