Class of 2012
From: Sharon, MA
Did you come to Wheaton knowing you wanted to major in Computer Science?
I came to Wheaton knowing I wanted to major in Computer Science. I'd been coding on and off for a long time growing up, starting at a summer camp I went to one year while I was still in elementary school, so I had plenty of time to realize this is what I wanted to do.
What has been the most interesting class you've taken in the Computer Science Curriculum?
The most interesting class I've taken was Comp 255: Artificial Intelligence because of the great diversity in the problems the class examined. The class taught methods for solving puzzles, playing checkers, finding anagrams, and even discovering the authorship of pieces of literature whose writer is unknown. No other class approached this level of diversity.
What is your favorite programming language and why?
C++ is my favorite language because it's a reliable workhorse for whatever I want to do. There are other languages better at specialized tasks, and there are other languages that are easier to use, but few that are as versatile and high performance as C++.
