Wheaton Week is new and ... not-so-new.
Let's start with the new, which is exactly what Wheaton Week is about: sharing the latest and greatest news about people and programs at the college. And there is a lot happening here—interesting, exciting, surprising and pride-inspiring happenings. Like the new book written by one of your professors. Or the great idea that a campus organization is tackling. Or a write up about great lecture that you had planned to attend, but didn't quite. Or the athletic team that is tearing up the competition.
You want to know about this stuff. And we want to tell you.
But it's not just about what's happened. Wheaton Week will also be about looking ahead to the events on the college calendar. Sure, you could look at the calendar any time on the web, but we have a pretty good idea that maybe you don't always check it. So, we're going to give you a weekly download of the calendar, too.
The name of the newsletter, though, represents a return to an old friend. Wheaton Week used to be the name for the college's weekly calendar, which was printed on legal-sized sheets of colored paper, stuffed into campus mailboxes every Thursday and eventually dropped into recycling bins. We don't plan to revive the practice of pushing all that paper around, but we will be coming to your inbox every Thursday.
