German

German is the widest-used language in the European Union; you’ll hear it in Austria, Belgium, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, and Switzerland. As you study this modern language in Wheaton’s close-knit community, you’ll explore German literature, pop culture, current events, and politics. Spend a semester or year abroad to practice your conversational German and experience everyday life in another culture. Majoring in German language and literature prepares you for careers in education, business,, foreign service, and translation. Our graduates have also served in the Peace Corps, taught abroad as Fulbright scholars, and earned advanced degrees in law, medicine, MBA, linguistics, theology, public policy.
