English 101 Section B23. Writing About Reading

We’ll practice writing for different purposes and different audiences. Much of our writing will be prompted by our reading non-fiction and fictional texts, as well as film excerpts, and examining the authors’ assumptions scaffolding the texts. We’ll utilize class discussion, individual presentations, and peer reading as well as explore information and critical secondary sources. Our reading texts include Ehrenreich’s Nickel and Dimed, Sedaris’s Naked and Linda Hogan’s Power. We’ll write in and out of class and strengthen our vocabulary through our reading and reinforcing quizzes.
