Lyons complete impressive weekend with home sweep over ClarkNovember 20, 2004 NORTON, MA- The Wheaton College men's and women's swimming and diving teams wrapped up an impressive weekend Saturday afternoon, as the Lyon men beat Clark University, 137-100 and the women won by a score of 167-124. The decisions move the men to 4-1 on the season, while the women remain unbeaten at 5-0 overall. The men began the meet with a win in the 200-yard medley relay, as senior co-captain Chris Klinkow (Hollis, NH/Hollis-Brookline), junior John Kuckens (West Hartford, CT/Hall), sophomore Matt Hurley (Belfast, ME/Belfast Area) and freshman Joe Fowler (Farmington, ME/Mount Blue) captured the top time of 1:47.54. Sophomore co-captain Barrett Roberts (Portland, ME/Deering) also chipped in a number of points with wins in the 100-yard backstroke and 100-yard freestyle events with times of 57.21 and 48.70, respectively. Klinkow recorded a time of 57.60 to win the 100-yard butterfly, while Kuckens captured the 50-yard freestyle in 22.77, Hurley the 400-yard individual medley in 4:34.56 and Fowler the 1,650-freestyle in 18:14.20. Other victors included sophomore Zach Hicks (Bath, ME/Morse) in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:19.69 and first-year Matt Jordan (Ellsworth, ME/Ellsworth) in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:06.55. Jordan, Klinkow, Roberts and freshman Ryan Patch (Lexington, MA/Lexington) finished the meet with a victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:32.05. The women started out strong with a win in the 200-yard medley relay, as senior Amanda Berthelette (Milford, NH/Milford), junior Maura Huntington (Marshfield, MA/Marshfield), sophomore Cassie Bohn (Manhattan Beach, CA/Mira Costa) and freshman Abby Pratt (Melrose, MA/Melrose) registered the top time of 2:01.27. Berthelette, Bohn and Pratt each won two additional races over the course of the meet, with Berthelette winning the 100-yard backstroke in 1:03.41 and 200-yard back in 2:21.56, Bohn the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:14.00 and 200-yard breast in 2:38.21 and Pratt the 50-yard freestyle in 25.58 and 500-yard frees in 5:40.65. Rounding out the victories included junior Lauren Pcholinski (Old Saybrook, CT/Old Saybrook) in the 100- and 1,650-yard freestyle events with times of 1:00.36 and 19:51.41, respectively, senior co-captain Blake Worrall (Duxbury, MA/Duxbury) in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:05.85, sophomore Kristen Behrens (Uxbridge, MA/Uxbridge) in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:09.93 and classmate Colleen Smith (Milford, CT/Lauralton Hall) in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:23.75. The Lyons do not compete again until after Thanksgiving, when they travel to Connecticut College to participate in the Connecticut College Invitational.
