Wheaton women's soccer earns NSCAA team ethics honor

January 9, 2007

NORTON, MA- The Wheaton College women's soccer team was one of 57 college teams from around the nation to earn the 2006 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas Team Ethics Award.

The Lyons were one of 34 teams to draw silver honors for receiving no more than five yellow cards, as well as zero red cards. Eligible squads are men's and women's teams from all divisions of the NCAA, NAIA, NJCAA and NCCAA, and the honorees are selected by the NSCAA's Ethics Committee. Wheaton was the lone representative of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) for either gender.

Wheaton completed last season under head coach Luis Reis with a 21-2-1 record and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the seventh straight season. The Blue and White won its eighth consecutive NEWMAC regular season championship and earned the eighth league tournament title in program history, including its sixth NEWMAC crown in seven years.
