Prihoda picks up NEWMAC honor on third occasion this seasonOctober 29, 2001 NORTON, MA- Wheaton women's soccer offensive standout, Tracy Prihoda (Needham, MA/Needham) picked up her third conference accolade of the season by being selected New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Player of the Week for the week ending on Sunday, October 28. A sophomore forward with the Lyons, Prihoda led Wheaton to its second consecutive conference tournament title, as Wheaton posted a 3-0 week in championship play en route to a perfect 20-0 mark thus far. Leading the country in scoring, Prihoda went over the 100-point plateau for her career with a ten-point week. She had four goals and two assists in two games. Prihoda tallied four goals in a 6-0 semifinal round win over Wellesley on Saturday and then added a pair of assists in a 3-1 victory against Springfield in yesterday's championship game. The Lyons also defeated Smith in the opening round, 3-0 on Elms Field. Versus Springfield, Prihoda surpassed 100 career points, bringing her total to 43 goals and 15 assists. The Lyons are enjoying their best season in the program's 22-year history with a national ranking of third in the country, including a top regional billing in New England. Wheaton will host the NCAA Division III New England Regional Tournament this weekend, including both semifinal round contests on Saturday and the title game on Sunday. The opening round contests begin Wednesday at 1:00 p.m., as the fourth-seeded Amherst College Lady Jeffs face the fifth-seeded Endicott College Power Gulls in Amherst.
