Ezeigwe earns ECAC Track Athlete-of-the-Week honor

April 18, 2008

NORTON, MA- Wheaton College women's outdoor track and field standout Chizoba Ezeigwe (Brockton, MA/Thayer Academy) was named Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Track Athlete of the Week for the week ending on Sunday, April 13. The junior earned her first weekly honor of the school year.

On Saturday at the University of Miami Elite Invitational, Ezeigwe helped her 4x400-meter relay quartet run the fastest time in Division III this season and provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championship in the 200M while competing alongside some world-class athletes.

Ezeigwe helped her relay team finish in 3:47.27, bettering the previous best in Division III this season by 5.88 seconds and eclipsing automatic qualification for NCAAs by 2.33 ticks. Following all of the weekend's Division III competitions, the time bettered the nation's second-fastest relay by 4.17 seconds. In the 200M, her time of 25.04 tied for fifth nationally this season.

Wheaton's teams return to action on Saturday at Massachusetts Institute of Technology's (MIT) Coed Invitational, which begins at 12:00 p.m.
