Ezeigwe honored by ECAC after three wins at NEWMAC ChampionshipMay 2, 2007
A sophomore, Ezeigwe won a pair of individual events while helping a relay team to victory on Saturday at the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship. Ezeigwe's time of 12.35 in the preliminaries of the 100-meter dash was 0.03 seconds shy of an NCAA provisional qualifying mark, and her time of 12.41 in the finals was 0.40 better than the runner up. In the 200M, she reached an NCAA time at 25.09, winning by 1.34 seconds. During the 4x100M relay, Ezeigwe helped the team clock in at 48.96, which was 0.16 seconds off a provisional time and 0.65 faster than the second-place team. The 2006 NEWMAC Rookie of the Year has now won the 100- and 200-meter dash events in each of her two years and has earned a total of six all-conference citations after entering just six events. Among all New England runners this spring, Ezeigwe has the fastest times in the 100M and 200M while standing third in the 400M and 10th in the 400M hurdles. She was a member of the top 4x100M relay quartet, and the second-fastest 4x400M relay team. Wheaton's men's and women's squads return to competition on Friday and Saturday at the NCAA Division III New England Championship at Springfield College. This page is maintained by Scott Dietz.
