Larsen finishes career with All-America laurels at NCAA Championship

May 28, 2005

WAVERLY, IA- Senior captain Kirsten Larsen (Hampden, MA/Minnechaug Regional) wrapped up her collegiate career in outstanding fashion at this weekend's NCAA Championship, posting All-America honors in the javelin throw to lead the Wheaton College women's outdoor track and field team at Wartburg College.

Garnering All-America laurels for the third time over her impressive four-year career, Larsen finished fourth in this year's event with a toss of 139' 7". Larsen advanced to the finals after throwing the meet's sixth-best distance of 130' 9".

Larsen was joined at the meet by classmate and fellow captain Kathrine Wallace (Glenmoore, PA/The Hill School) as well as sophomore Jennifer Harlow (East Bridgewater, MA/East Bridgewater). Wallace and Harlow were two of 21 competitors in the high jump.

Harlow, an All-America high jumper as a freshman, easily cleared the opening height of 5' 3" on her first attempt to finish in a tie for 11th overall. Wallace, who garnered All-America accolades in the indoor 4x400-meter relay race as a senior and high jump event as a sophomore, did not clear the meet's opening height.
