Cunha garners ECAC Track Co-Athlete-of-the-Week accoladesApril 28, 2006
The first-year athlete won a pair of events and broke a school record for the second straight weekend at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Coed Invitational last Saturday. Cunha eclipsed the 400-meter hurdles record he set on Saturday, April 15 by 0.03 seconds with a 54.63 finish, bettering a pair of Division I athletes and five from Division II. During the 110-meter hurdles, Cunha completed the event 0.25 seconds faster than the second-place competitor with a time of 15.04. In that race, he finished ahead of five Division I runners. Cunha set the Wheaton standard in the 110M hurdles on April 15 with a time of 14.76. Cunha and the Lyon teams return to MIT this coming weekend for their annual New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships.
