NORTON, MA- This Homecoming Saturday the Wheaton College Department of Athletics will recognize three anniversary teams during halftime of the men's soccer game against the United States Coast Guard Academy on Keefe Field, which is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start. The 1983 field hockey, 1999 women's indoor track & field and 2000 baseball teams will each be honored.

The department will pay tribute to field hockey becoming the first Wheaton program to advance to an NCAA Tournament, women's indoor track & field capturing the school's initial NCAA national championship, and baseball qualifying for its first NCAA Tournament.

The ceremony commemorating the aforementioned programs will be facilitated by Executive Director of Athletics Chad Yowell, Associate Director of Athletics John Sutyak '00 and Senior Woman Administrator Rebecca Begley. Invited guests will be encouraged to join other former student-athletes, alums, families and additional Lyon supporters under the Homecoming Welcome Tent, sponsored by the Lyons Athletic Club (LAC) and Wheaton Alumnae/i Association.

Saturday's festivities are also set to have audio and video coverage from Norton Community Television and student-run campus radio station WCCS-FM 96.5. The broadcast will be on a tape-delay basis and will be available free of charge on Wheaton's athletics Web site at www.wheatoncollege.edu/athletics.

The 1983 Wheaton field hockey team not only qualified for the NCAA Tournament but also won its opening-round game against Salem State College under the former Debi Field, the squad's head coach. In the second round, the Lyons fell to eventual national champion The College of New Jersey. With a 13-3 record, Wheaton's winning percentage and nine shutouts that fall still each rank second in program history, while its 13 victories remain tied for second. The Blue and White's seven-game winning streak is also tied for the second best.

Wheaton's 1999 women's indoor track & field team's national championship marked the beginning of an era under head coach Paul Souza, now in his 16th year, that laid witness to five straight indoor national crowns from 1999-2003 and a trio of outdoor titles from 2001-03. The 1999 squad needed the meet's final event, the 4×400-meter relay, to pull out a tight win over the University of Wisconsin at La Crosse. Wheaton finished with 43 points to La Crosse's 38 at Ohio Northern University. During the meet, Lyons won one event while earning 10 All-America honors.

With current 14th-year head coach Eric Podbelski at the helm, Wheaton baseball qualified for the 2000 NCAA Tournament in just its third season of varsity existence, recording a 28-12 mark while winning its second straight New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) regular season and tournament championships. The Lyons went 11-1 in league play during the regular season before posting a perfect 3-0 mark in the conference tournament, defeating Springfield College, Clark University and Coast Guard.

NORTON, MA- Wheaton College baseball standouts Nick Pecora (Highland Park, NJ/Immaculata) and Josh Simmons (Cranston, RI/Cranston West) are set to play in the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) All-Star game on Thursday, June 4, at Brockton's Campanelli Stadium at 7:00 p.m. Including this year's tandem, the Lyons will have had 10 players compete in an NEIBA All-Star game since 2002.

Sixteen players from Division III New England college baseball teams who were seniors in 2009 will join a team of Division II all-stars and play against a squad of Division I all-stars in the 35th annual game. The University team holds a 21-11-1 lead in the series, but the College team has won four of the last six games.

Nick Pecora

Pecora and Simmons, who account for two of the four New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) selections, were both voted to the NEIBA All-New England second team. The lone shortstop on the region's second squad, Pecora was named to a NEWMAC All-Conference team for the second time in his career, while Simmons, who was the lone relief pitcher on the NEIBA's second squad, garnered his first all-league honor.

Pecora batted .375 with team highs of 49 runs and 21 doubles while driving in 29 runs, drawing 20 walks and fielding at a .940 clip in 41 starts. He broke the program's single-season doubles record, tied for fourth in runs, ranked seventh in total bases (104) and tied for seventh in hits (66). Pecora is tied for sixth in program history in career triples (6), seventh in batting average (.335), eighth in walks (55), tied for eighth in sac flies (8), ninth in hits (183) and total bases (249), and tied for ninth in doubles (36).

Josh Simmons

As Wheaton's closer for the third straight spring, Simmons posted a 1.03 earned run average in 21 appearances this season. He struck out 38 batters in just 26.1 innings while recording nine saves and limiting the opposition to a .192 batting average. Simmons' season save total ranks fifth in program annals, and he tied for sixth in pitching appearances. For his career, he stands first in games pitched (81), second in saves (27) and sixth in ERA (2.64).

The duo helped Wheaton record its fifth consecutive 30-win season, as the Lyons went 30-12 overall and 9-3 in the NEWMAC. Capturing at least a share of its 10th regular season conference title in the league's 11-year history, the Blue and White ranks 24th in the D3baseball.com national poll and seventh in the NEIBA regional poll.

NORTON, MA- The Wheaton College baseball team had at least three players tabbed to a New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) all-region team for the fifth consecutive season, as seniors Nick Pecora (Highland Park, NJ/Immaculata) and Josh Simmons (Cranston, RI/Cranston West) and sophomore Sean Munley (Trenton, NJ/The Hun School of Princeton) picked up regional honors for the first time in their careers.

The Lyons had three on the 16-player second team, with Munley and Pecora standing as the lone designated hitter and shortstop, respectively. Simmons was one of five second-team pitchers and the lone non-starter. Wheaton was represented well among New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) selections, claiming three of the six honorees, as the trio also earned all-league first-team accolades in late April.

Nick Pecora

Pecora turned in an all-around impressive spring, batting .375 with team highs of 49 runs and 21 doubles while driving in 29 runs, drawing 20 walks and fielding at a .940 clip in 41 starts at shortstop. He broke the program's single-season doubles record, tied for fourth in runs, ranked seventh in total bases (104) and tied for seventh in hits (66). Pecora leaves Wheaton tied for sixth in career triples (6), ranked seventh in batting average (.335), eighth in walks (55), tied for eighth in sac flies (8), ninth in hits (183) and total bases (249), and tied for ninth in doubles (36).

Josh Simmons

During his third season as Wheaton's closer and fourth as a relief pitcher, Simmons capped off his career with a 1.03 earned run average in 21 appearances this spring. He struck out 38 batters in just 26.1 innings while recording nine saves and limiting the opposition to a .192 batting average. Simmons, whose season save total ranked fifth in program annals and pitching appearances tied for sixth, finished his career tops in games pitched (81), second in saves (27) and sixth in ERA (2.64).

Sean Munley

Munley posted another productive campaign from his DH spot, batting .391 with team-best totals of 53 RBI and 30 walks to go alongside 33 runs and 15 doubles while striking out just 15 times. His RBI were good for fourth best in a season at Wheaton, and he ranked sixth in walks and on-base percentage (.477), tied for seventh in doubles and sacrifice flies (4), and 10th in batting average. Munley is already tied for ninth in program history with 53 career walks and is approaching Wheaton's top 10 in RBI.

The Lyons completed their fifth straight 30-win season with a 30-12 mark, going 9-3 in league play while securing at least a share of their 10th regular season conference championship in the NEWMAC's 11-year history. Wheaton is currently ranked 24th in the D3baseball.com national poll and is seventh in the NEIBA regional rankings.

The nationally-ranked Wheaton baseball team went 2-3 last week during its final run of regular season games, and the Lyons now wait until next week to learn of a possible NCAA Tournament berth.

Baseball (30-12, 9-3) Records 30th Win, Awaits Possible Postseason Tournament Bid

The nationally-ranked Wheaton College baseball team went 2-3 last week during its final run of regular season games, and the Lyons now wait until next week to learn of a possible NCAA Tournament berth. The Blue and White was ranked 15th in last week's D3baseball.com national poll and fifth in the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) regional rankings. On Tuesday, the Lyons won a slugfest with visiting Rhode Island College, 19-13 before dropping an 11-0 decision at seventh-ranked Eastern Connecticut State University on Wednesday evening. The following day, Wheaton yielded a late comeback to visiting University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth, 12-9 before notching a 12-9 win at Brandeis University on Friday. The next day the Lyons traveled to Division I Bryant University, where they completed their regular season slate with a 13-3 loss. Wheaton hit the 30-win plateau for the fifth straight spring and seventh time in the program's 12-year history.

Wheaton scored the final seven runs during its last two turns at bat against Rhode Island College. In a contest where the teams combined for 32 runs on 35 hits, each team went down in order only once. Senior Nick Pecora (Highland Park, NJ/Immaculata) and juniors Jeff Lieneck (Foxboro, MA/Xaverian Brothers) and Paul Malaguti (Andover, MA/Andover) each homered for the Lyons. Sophomore Sean Munley (Trenton, NJ/The Hun School of Princeton) finished 4-for-5 with three doubles and a school-record-tying five runs, Lieneck went 4-for-6 with four RBI, while Malaguti and sophomore Hadi Raad (Hastings-on-Hudson, NY/Hastings) each plated four runs. Pecora scored three times, and freshman Dan Haugh (Andover, MA/Saint John's Prep) drew three of Wheaton's 11 walks while scoring a trio of runs. Five pitchers saw action, with senior Karl Olson (Bethel, ME/Gould Academy) earning his first collegiate win in relief. Sophomore Pat Martin (Rockland, MA/Rockland) and senior Josh Simmons (Cranston, RI/Cranston West) fired shutout eighth and ninth innings, respectively. Sophomore Tad Skelley (Wolfeboro, NH/Holderness School) walked twice and scored twice, freshman Dan Demeo (Glastonbury, CT/Glastonbury) drew two walks and had two RBI, while classmate John Keating (Duxbury, MA/Northfield Mount Hermon School) poked a two-run double.

At Eastern Connecticut State, which was ranked seventh in the nation and third in the region, the Lyons totaled three hits, as Munley reached base twice on a base knock and a walk.

The Lyons yielded 11 straight runs to UMass-Dartmouth during an eventual setback. Malaguti went 4-for-6 with three runs, two doubles and a home run, while freshman Hal Landers (Salem, NH/Salem) picked up three hits, five RBI and two steals from the leadoff spot. Haugh was 2-for-4 with two runs, Pecora notched two hits, and Demeo walked three times while scoring three runs.

Wheaton plated the final seven runs at Brandeis during its 30th victory of the season. Munley was 3-for-4 with three runs and three RBI, while Haugh went 3-for-4 while driving in three runs, scoring twice and homering. Landers was 2-for-3 with two runs and a pair of walks, sophomore Eric Laliberte (Nashua, NH/Bishop Guertin) had two hits, Demeo added two RBI, and Lieneck scored twice. A trio of relief pitchers combined to toss 5.1 shutout innings of five-hit ball, as junior Jon Shepard (Salisbury, MA/Triton Regional) earned the win with two strikeouts and four hits in 3.1 frames. Senior Jared Barnes (North Attleboro, MA/Bishop Feehan) fired a one-hit eighth, while Simmons collected the save by fanning the side in the ninth after two Judges had reached base.

In facing a Division I opponent for the second time in program history, the Lyons fell at Bryant. Wheaton played the College of the Holy Cross in 2006. The Bulldogs were ranked fourth regionally in their division by the NEIBA. Munley hit a two-out, two-run single in the sixth inning before Malaguti followed with a run-scoring base knock. Laliberte had the Lyons' other hit and scored a run, while Munley drew a base on balls in addition to his hit.

SMITHFIELD, RI- The nationally-ranked Wheaton College baseball team completed its regular season by opposing regionally-ranked Division I Bryant University on Saturday at the Bryant Baseball Complex, where it lost 13-3. Now 30-12, the Lyons await a possible at-large berth into the NCAA Tournament.

Wheaton, which is ranked 15th by D3baseball.com and fifth in the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) regional poll, last played a Division I school in 2006, falling at the College of the Holy Cross. The Bulldogs are 29-21 and ranked fourth in New England, as they are in their first season of reclassifying from Division II.

The Lyon offense was held in check for the first four innings, as the first 12 Wheaton hitters were set down, and sophomore Sean Munley (Trenton, NJ/The Hun School of Princeton) walked leading off the fifth inning to become its first base runner.

Bryant grabbed a 1-0 lead in the second when freshman Jamie Skagerlind (Holden, MA/Wachusett Regional) hit a two-out solo homer, but sophomore southpaw Kevin Calabro (Andover, MA/Andover) got out of an ensuing bases-loaded jam by inducing a groundout. However, the hosts were aided by a pair of Lyon errors in plating three unearned runs in the third. Skagerlind poked a two-run double during the frame.

Consecutive RBI doubles by the Bulldogs with no one out in the fifth made it 6-0, but freshman Nolan Corr (Somersworth, NH/Saint Thomas Aquinas) came out of the bullpen and nearly wriggled out of trouble before another two-bagger capped a three-run inning.

Wheaton's offense came alive in the sixth, as an infield error led to a trio of unearned runs. Sophomore Eric Laliberte (Nashua, NH/Bishop Guertin) singled up the middle with one out for the Lyons' initial hit, and Munley provided a two-out, two-run single to put the visitors on the board. Junior Paul Malaguti (Andover, MA/Andover) followed with a run-scoring knock.

Bryant put the game away with six runs on six hits in the home half, with Skagerlind again in the middle of things, this time producing a two-run single.

Munley finished with his two RBI and one of Wheaton's three hits, while Calabro suffered the loss, yielding four earned runs in four innings. In relief, sophomore lefty Chad Kasik (Dudley, MA/Shepherd Hill Regional) allowed one earned run in three frames.

Skagerlind was 3-for-4 with five RBI for Bryant, while junior Eric Polvani (Wallingford, CT/Sheehan) earned his seventh win of the spring.

WALTHAM, MA- The Wheaton College baseball team plated the final seven runs during Friday's non-conference road game at Brandeis University en route to a 12-9 comeback victory under the lights on Stein Diamond, as the Lyons recorded their 30th win for the fifth straight season and seventh time over the last nine springs.

Wheaton, which is ranked 15th nationally and fifth in the region, raised its record to 30-11, while the Judges fell to 16-23.

The visitors carried a 5-0 advantage into the fourth before Brandeis exploded for nine runs in the home half. Wheaton got a run back in the fifth before tacking on two more in the seventh to make the score 9-8 in favor of the Judges. The Lyons retook the lead in the eighth when sophomore Sean Munley (Trenton, NJ/The Hun School of Princeton) drove a three-run double into right center for his 49th, 50th and 51st RBI of the season.

A trio of Wheaton relief pitchers combined to toss 5.1 shutout innings of five-hit ball, as junior Jon Shepard (Salisbury, MA/Triton Regional) earned the win with two strikeouts and four hits in 3.1 frames. Senior Jared Barnes (North Attleboro, MA/Bishop Feehan) fired a one-hit eighth, while classmate Josh Simmons (Cranston, RI/Cranston West) collected his ninth save of the year, striking out the side in the ninth after Brandeis' initial two hitters reached safely.

Senior Nick Pecora (Highland Park, NJ/Immaculata) belted his 21st double of the season, extending his own program record, as the second batter in the first, driving in freshman leadoff hitter Hal Landers (Salem, NH/Salem), who had singled up the middle. Wheaton capitalized on two Judge miscues in the third, scoring four runs on three hits, with freshman Dan Demeo (Glastonbury, CT/Glastonbury) notching his first collegiate double, a two-run rip to right center.

After succumbing to nine runs on seven hits in the fourth, including four knocks that went for extra bases, Wheaton slowly chipped away. After the Lyons scored an unearned run in the fifth to make the score 9-6, freshman Dan Haugh's (Andover, MA/Saint John's Prep) team-high-tying seventh home run of the season brought the visitors to within one in the seventh.

Three two-baggers highlighted Wheaton's eighth, with Munley's serving as the big blow. Haugh and sophomore Eric Laliberte (Nashua, NH/Bishop Guertin) also rapped doubles in the frame. Munley's 51 RBI rank in a tie for fourth most in a season in program history, as he finished 3-for-4 with three runs and a trio of RBI.

Haugh also went 3-for-4 while driving in three runs and scoring two, Landers was 2-for-3 with two runs and a pair of walks, while Laliberte had two hits, a run and a walk. Demeo plated two and added a walk, and junior Jeff Lieneck (Foxboro, MA/Xaverian Brothers) scored twice. Classmate Nick Kostaras (North Attleboro, MA/North Attleboro) recorded a no-decision on the mound.

Wheaton finishes its regular season tomorrow at Division I Bryant University at 1:00 p.m. The Lyons first faced a Division I school in 2006, dropping an 8-5 decision at the College of the Holy Cross.

UMass-Dartmouth rallied for 11 straight runs to overcome an early six-run deficit before holding off 15th-ranked Wheaton, 12-9 in non-conference baseball action on Thursday at Sidell Stadium.

NORTON, MA- The University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth rallied for 11 straight runs to overcome an early six-run deficit before holding off 15th-ranked Wheaton College, 12-9 in non-conference baseball action on Thursday at Sidell Stadium. The Lyons slipped to 29-11, while the Corsairs improved to 12-24.

Junior Tom Ladore (Milford, CT/Joseph A. Foran) put the Corsairs ahead with a two-out RBI double in the second inning, as his sinking line drive was narrowly missed by a Wheaton fielder, but Lyon senior shortstop Nick Pecora (Highland Park, NJ/Immaculata) slid to his left and tossed to first in retiring the next batter.

The Lyons plated four runs on three hits in the home half to grab the lead. Sophomore Tad Skelley (Wolfeboro, NH/Holderness School) was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to force in the tying run, and freshman Hal Landers (Salem, NH/Salem) singled a pair home as the next batter.

Pecora made a backhanded diving catch in the top of the third inning, and right fielder Landers ended the frame with a catch in foul territory while running into the fence. In the home half, Landers keyed a three-run inning by coming through with a two-out, two-run single to make it 7-1.

In the fourth, the Corsairs put two on with no one out, but senior southpaw Brian Hughes (Dudley, MA/Shepherd Hill Regional) fanned the next two batters before sophomore center fielder Hadi Raad (Hastings-on-Hudson, NY/Hastings) made a sliding catch in right center to end the threat.

The visitors got three runs back in the fifth, as the inning was keyed by sophomore Matt Ryan's (Uxbridge, MA/Uxbridge) two-out, two-run single. With runners at second and third and two down, Hughes fanned the final hitter. In the bottom half, the Corsairs' corner outfielders each made tremendous catches, with sophomore right fielder Pete Beksha (Franklin, MA/Franklin) snaring a high line drive for the first out and classmate Carlos Sanchez (Millbury, MA/Millbury) diving into the corner in left for the second out.

UMass-Dartmouth grabbed its first lead since the second inning by scoring four runs on just one hit in the seventh, as the first three came home despite the initial six batters of the frame not hitting the ball out of the infield. Sophomore Ryan McDermott (Pembroke, MA/Pembroke) punched a go-ahead RBI single into center with two out, and Ryan added a one-out, run-scoring knock in the eighth before three runs came home on an outfield miscue.

Junior Paul Malaguti (Andover, MA/Andover) homered with one down in the eighth before Landers beat out an infield single with the bases loaded and two out, making it 12-9. However, the Lyons left the bases jammed.

Malaguti went 4-for-6 with three runs, two doubles and the home run, while Landers picked up three hits, five RBI and two steals from the leadoff spot. Freshman Dan Haugh (Andover, MA/Saint John's Prep) was 2-for-4 with two runs, Pecora notched two hits, and freshman Dan Demeo (Glastonbury, CT/Glastonbury) walked three times while scoring three runs. Senior Karl Olson (Bethel, ME/Gould Academy) took the loss.

Ryan was 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs for the Corsairs, Beksha was 3-for-4 with two runs, freshman Dan DeMello (Taunton, MA/Taunton) had two hits and two runs, while senior Casey Askeland (Dartmouth, MA/Dartmouth) notched three walks and three runs. Junior Adam Gustafson (Dighton, MA/Dighton-Rehoboth Regional) picked up the win in relief, and freshman Pat Lavey (Cranston, RI/Cranston East) had the save.

Wheaton is back in action tomorrow at Brandeis University at 5:30 p.m.

MANSFIELD, CT- The 15th-ranked Wheaton College baseball team recorded just three hits while surrendering 11 runs during Wednesday night's 11-0 non-conference road loss to number-seven Eastern Connecticut State University at the ECSU Baseball Stadium.

Ranked fifth in New England, the Lyons fell for the seventh time in their last 12 games to slip to 29-10, while the Warriors, who are third in the region, collected their eighth straight victory and improved to 29-6.

Sophomore Sean Munley (Trenton, NJ/The Hun School of Princeton) extended his hitting streak to 13 games after breaking up junior righthander Matt Fontaine's (Cranston, RI/Cranston West) perfect game to start the fifth inning, but Wheaton trailed 7-0 after four.

The Lyons had just four base runners through seven innings, as sophomore Hadi Raad (Hastings-on-Hudson, NY/Hastings) was their second to reach after taking advantage of an error to open the sixth. Wheaton's best opportunity came in the seventh when Munley drew a one-out walk and junior Paul Malaguti (Andover, MA/Andover) singled with two down, but each was left stranded after advancing on a passed ball as Fontaine recorded his 13th strikeout.

Eastern tacked on a trio of insurance runs in its half of the seventh for a 10-0 cushion, and Wheaton left a runner on in each the eighth and ninth frames. Freshman Hal Landers (Salem, NH/Salem) smacked a two-out, eighth-inning double to right center, while classmate Dan Haugh (Andover, MA/Saint John's Prep) drew a walk with two down in the final frame.

Wheaton senior hurler Louie Bernardini (Gray, ME/Gray-New Gloucester) gave up seven earned runs and scattered eight hits with three strikeouts and four walks in five innings in suffering his third loss of the season. Three Lyon relievers combined to allow three earned runs on four hits while fanning three and walking one over the final three frames.

Fontaine improved to 5-1 after tossing seven two-hit innings and issuing just one walk. Three Warrior pitchers combined for 16 strikeouts, while a trio of hitters finished with two knocks each.

The Lyons face their third Little East Conference (LEC) opponent in as many days tomorrow when they host the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth on Senior Day at 3:30 p.m. Wheaton is seeking its fifth consecutive 30-win campaign and seventh in 12 varsity seasons.

NORTON, MA- The Wheaton College Department of Athletics held its annual awards ceremony at Emerson Dining Hall on Tuesday night. Highlighting the evening was the announcement of the winners of the department's five major awards, as five seniors and one freshman representing four different Lyon programs were recognized. All six earned end-of-the-year honors for the first time.

Seniors Krystin Hickey (Manchester, NH/New Hampton School) and Nick Pecora (Highland Park, NJ/Immaculata) were recipients of the Dean Sue Alexander Senior Athlete Awards, classmate Adam Gingras (Woonsocket, RI/Woonsocket) was named Outstanding Male Athlete of the Year, while freshman Mickey Jusme (Providence, RI/Classical) was voted the school's top female athlete in receiving the Debi Field Athlete Award.

Seniors Brian Dundon (Mansfield, MA/Mansfield) and Jennie Pleat (Nashua, NH/Nashua South) received the Claudia Friese Special Recognition Award, which is intended to recognize behind-the-scenes dedication to the athletic program.

The senior athlete awards, which last year were renamed to acknowledge former Dean of Students Sue Alexander and her 21 years of support to Wheaton athletics, is presented to a male and female member of the graduating class who has made a significant contribution to the success of the Wheaton athletic program, including participating in intercollegiate athletics or intramural programs, displaying leadership ability, and providing commitment and relevant committee work.

Hickey, who became the women's basketball program's all-time leading scorer with 1,540 points and first four-time all-league selection earlier this year, led Wheaton to a 17-11 record while serving in a captain's role for the second straight season. A two-time all-region player and 2006 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Rookie of the Year, Hickey helped lead the Lyons to consecutive trips to the league tournament championship game, including in 2007 when the program reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 13 seasons.

Among the conference's top 10 in five statistical categories her senior year, Hickey paced the team in scoring, field goal percentage, three-point shooting and free throw percentage. In addition to finishing her career first in program annals in points, field goals and three-point shooting, Hickey will graduate among the top 10 in eight other categories.

A three-year starter for the nationally-ranked baseball team, Pecora is in the midst of his best season to date, having already helped the Lyons claim their third regular season league title in his career. Looking to push Wheaton to a fifth consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament, Pecora is among the conference's elite in several categories, including leading the pack in hits, runs and doubles. He also stands second in total bases, fourth in slugging percentage, fifth in batting average, sixth in on-base percentage and tied for sixth in home runs.

Off the diamond, Pecora is a resident adviser in Metcalf Hall, where he spearheaded his team's participation in the White Ribbon Campaign (WRC), which is the largest effort in the world of men working to end violence against women. A member of the school's Sexual Assault Response Team (SART), Pecora was also the recent recipient of the Eliza Baylies Chapin Wheaton Leadership Award, which recognizes students who find or revitalize a program or office at Wheaton.

Gingras, who earlier today helped pitch the Lyons to victory, became the second baseball player in as many years to garner the Outstanding Male Athlete of the Year Award. An All-America and all-region selection as a junior, Gingras has been victorious in 13 of his last 15 decisions. The 2008 NEWMAC Pitcher of the Year is currently 5-2. Entering the week, the righthander ranked third in the conference in ERA, tied for third in wins, tied for sixth in starts, seventh in strikeouts and ninth in innings pitched. For his career, he is seventh in program history in wins, eighth in innings pitched and tied for 10th in complete games.

Jusme earned the distinction of becoming the first freshman to be honored with the Debi Field Athlete Award, which has been given annually since 1984. An All-America triple jumper during the NCAA indoor championship, Jusme finished third in the country at 39′ 3 3/4″ while also qualifying for the national meet in the long jump at 18′ 5″. Named Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Field Athlete of the Week four times thus far, she has provisionally qualified for the outdoor national championship in both the triple and long jumps. Jusme, who won the triple jump at Saturday's conference meet with a league-record leap of 39′ 3 3/4″, was named NEWMAC Field Athlete of the Year.

Dundon and Pleat served as the Wheaton Athletic Mentors (WAMs) Co-Presidents in their third year as members, with Dundon finishing up his second as co-president. Pleat handled secretary duties as a junior for the WAMs, which is the school's student-athlete advisory committee (SAAC). As an officer, Dundon had heavy involvement in the acquisition of funds for the Big Event, which is the WAMs' signature event, while Pleat organized many of the logistics for the event in addition to playing a large role in introducing superfan T-shirts. Additionally, Pleat was the recent recipient of the Caroline Cutler Metcalf Leadership Award The pair has also provided pivotal leadership roles in the current reorganization of the group's operating structure and constitution.
