NORTON, MA- The Wheaton College women's tennis team continues to rack up New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) awards, as junior Ellen Van Faasen (Manchester, MA/Manchester Essex Regional) and sophomore Rosalyn Chesky (South Hadley, MA/Wilbraham & Monson Academy) being named doubles team of the week marked the sixth week this fall in which at least one Lyon was honored. The tandem picked up its second accolade for the week ending on Sunday, October 18.
Chesky and Van Faasen went 4-1 last week, including posting an 8-1 victory on Tuesday from third doubles over a Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) duo during Wheaton's 6-3 win, which clinched it a share of its first regular season conference title and the top seed in this weekend's six-team NEWMAC Tournament.

The tandem went 3-1 over the weekend at the New England Women's Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament (NEWITT), downing a mixed duo from Amherst College and Middlebury College, 8-1, before picking up 8-3 wins over Endicott College and Suffolk University but falling in the quarterfinals of the B Draw to a team from two-time defending national champion Williams College.
Chesky and Van Faasen ran their season record to 12-1, including a perfect 9-0 mark from the third position in dual matches. The pair is also 5-0 in conference play.
The Lyons, who are ranked 12th in the Northeast, are on a four-match winning streak. With an 11-2 record overall and a 6-1 league mark, Wheaton received a first-round bye in this weekend's tournament and will face an undetermined foe during Sunday's semifinal round at MIT at 9:30 a.m.
