Men's Soccer (11-3-1, 2-1) Drops Lone Contest, Falls 1-0 at NEWMAC Foe Babson

The Wheaton College men's soccer team, which is ranked 22nd nationally and third in New England by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), dropped a 1-0 decision on Saturday at defending New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament champion Babson College in its lone contest of the week.

The Lyons held advantages of 22-12 in shots and 11-2 in corner kicks over the Beavers, who are tied for 10th in the regional poll. Junior Cole Davidson (Needham, MA/Salisbury School) made six saves for Wheaton, which was competing in its only game between October 5 and 16. It was the 12th one-goal contest in the 23-game all-time series between the teams.

Junior Yuri Moreira (Marlboro, MA/Northfield Mount Hermon School) is fourth in program history in career goals (32) and ninth in points (70), while classmate Josh Solomon (Acton, MA/Action-Boxboro Regional) is tied for seventh in assists (21). Davidson is fifth in minutes (3,582:53) and sixth in each wins (21), saves (148) and shutouts (11), while junior Chris Smart (Brookfield, CT/Brookfield) is seventh in victories (13). With 13 goals this season, Moreira has set a career high while tying for fifth in program history. Among them, six are game-winners.
