Women's Soccer (11-1, 2-0) Posts Pair of Home Victories, Remains Unbeaten in NEWMAC

The Wheaton College women's soccer team, which is receiving national votes and is tied for fourth in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's (NSCAA) New England poll, went 2-0 at home last week, including picking up a 5-0 victory on Saturday over the United States Coast Guard Academy during New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action. The Lyons also downed Lesley University, 2-0 on Thursday, blanking the 2008 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Tournament runner up.

Against the Lynx, senior Lyndsey McManus (Marshfield, MA/Marshfield) played a role in both goals, depositing a 48th-minute penalty kick before assisting junior back Alessia Viscomi (Newton, MA/Newton North) in the 69th minute. Sophomore keeper Lindsay Leddy (Warwick, RI/Wheeler School) made three saves while picking up the shutout.

Wheaton received its first two markers from freshman Cassey Muse (Candia, NH/Central) during a win over Coast Guard. Junior Christina Bertrand (Agawam, MA/Cathedral) turned in a goal and an assist, senior Rosie Levy (Torrance, CA/Chadwick School) and freshman Keely Angelo (Atlanta, GA/Paideia School) also scored, and sophomore Emily Vincunas (Granville, MA/Wilbraham & Monson Academy) had a pair of assists. Angelo's marker was her first as a collegian. Leddy went untested in a little more than 77 minutes before sophomore Erin Cawley (West Springfield, MA/West Springfield) completed the shutout for Wheaton.

Junior Emily Hough (Norwich, VT/Hanover) is eighth in program history in career points (89), tied for eighth in assists (31) and stands 10th in goals (29). Leddy is tied for fourth in shutouts (13) while sitting sixth in wins (23) and seventh in minutes (2,799:01).
