Men's Lacrosse (0-5, 0-1) Begins Pilgrim League Slate with Rematch of 2008 Title Game
The Wheaton College men's lacrosse team opened Pilgrim League play last week with a 14-3 loss on Saturday against visiting Springfield College in a rematch of last year's conference tournament title game. After the Pride scored the first eight goals, sophomore Ben Cederberg (Duxbury, MA/Duxbury) tallied eight seconds into the third quarter, and freshman Billy McNamara (Mansfield, MA/Northfield Mount Hermon School) found the back of the net twice in the fourth period. Juniors Schuyler Horn (New Hartford, CT/Kingswood-Oxford School) and Alex Lewis (Westford, NJ/Westford) each made five saves in one half, while senior Jeff Gomer (Duxbury, MA/Duxbury) won 12 face-offs.
Gomer stands second in program history in both career ground balls (227), just one shy of the school mark, and face-off victories (343).
