Men's Lacrosse • Thursday, March 19th, 2009

HARTFORD, CT- The Wheaton College men's lacrosse team saw its season-opening four-game road trip come to a close in disappointing fashion Thursday afternoon at Trinity College, as the Lyons suffered a 17-2 non-conference setback on Jessee/Miller Field.

Wheaton falls to 0-4 on the season, while Trinity, which has averaged nearly 13 goals in its first five games, collected its second straight win to improve to 4-1.

The Blue and White trailed just 2-1 with 3:24 to play in the first quarter thanks to sophomore Duncan Smith's (Centerport, NY/Harborfields) initial tally of the season, but it was all Bantams after that. The hosts responded with nine consecutive tallies and an 11-1 cushion 1:15 into the fourth period.

Lyon freshman Billy McNamara (Mansfield, MA/Northfield Mount Hermon School) made it 11-2 29 seconds after that before Trinity used a game-ending 6-0 run. Junior Warren Garceau (Guilford, CT/Canterbury School) won half of his 14 face-offs, while classmate Schuyler Horn (New Hartford, CT/Kingwood-Oxford School) turned aside 10 shots.

For the Bantams, junior Harper Cullen (Rehoboth, Beach, DE/Episcopal) totaled five goals and two assists, senior Robert Mountain (New Canaan, CT/New Canaan) finished with a hat trick, while sophomore Kevin Looby (Kansas City, MO/Rockhurst) turned in one tally and three helpers. Senior goalie Graham Fadden (New Canaan, CT/Westminster School) stopped six shots in nearly 52 minutes.

The Lyons are off for over a week and don't return to action until Saturday, March 28, when they host defending Pilgrim League Tournament champion Springfield College at 12:00 p.m. In last year's title game, the Pride defeated Wheaton, 9-5.
