HILTON HEAD, SC- The Wheaton College women's tennis team notched its 10th shutout of the season while coming within one victory of the program record behind a 9-0 win over Saint John Fisher College of New York on Tuesday.
The Lyons, who are ranked 11th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) Northeast poll, improved to 13-4 and have two more contests remaining as they look to match the school mark for victories, last reached during the 1994-95 school year.
A pair of Wheaton tandems made quick work of their doubles counterparts, as sophomores Sarah Geocaris (Newport Beach, CA/Sage Hill School) and Catherine Teague (Manchester, NH/Central) in the top spot and seniors Mallory Farmer (Washington, CT/The Gunnery) and Oriana Federico (Andover, MA/Lawrence Academy) at three posted 8-0 wins.
