Men's (4-12) and Women's (9-6-1) Swimming & Diving Complete Regular Season at MIT

The Wheaton College men's and women's swimming & diving teams finished their regular season slates by competing during the second day of the non-scoring Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Winter Invitational on Saturday. Each team now turns its focus to its respective three-day New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship, with the women kicking things off at MIT on February 20 and the men hosting the event starting on February 27.

Sophomores Dania Piscetta (Belmont, NH/Belmont) and Nicole Zais (Sudbury, MA/Lincoln-Sudbury Regional) each bested Piscetta's year-old school record in the 100-yard individual medley. Zais posted a time of 1:02.68, which was 2.09 seconds faster than the old mark, while Piscetta clocked in at 1:03.28. Zais and Piscetta took third and fourth in the 200-yard breaststroke and 200-yard individual medley, respectively, before joining sophomore Samantha Farrell (Reading, MA/Reading Memorial) on a pair of fourth-place relay teams. The trio sided with junior Iris Meehan (Bar Harbor, ME/Mount Desert Island) during the 200-yard medley and sophomore Stephany Perkins (Monmouth, ME/Monmouth Academy) on the 200-yard freestyle. For the men, sophomore Jonathan Gold (West Harrison, NY/Fordham Prep) turned in fifth-places finishes in each the one- and three-meter diving events. Wheaton's best swimming finish came during the 200 free relay, when sophomores Zach Fichman-Klein (North Attleboro, MA/North Attleboro) and Ben Sabol (Saint Petersburg, FL/Shorecrest Prep) and freshmen Devon Best (Brentwood, TN/Ravenwood) and Cole Larson-Whittaker (Penobscot, ME/George Stevens Academy) combined to take eighth.
