NORTON, MA- Wheaton College women's swimming & diving sophomore Nicole Zais (Sudbury, MA/Lincoln-Sudbury Regional) was named New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Swimmer of the Week for the week ending on Sunday, January 25, earning the initial weekly conference accolade of her career.

Zais played a hand in three event victories on Saturday during the Lyons' 171-104 win over visiting Babson College, including taking the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:28.95, just 1.55 seconds off of a school record. She won the 50-yard freestyle in 25.24 and swam a leg for the top 400-yard medley relay quartet, which clocked in at 4:11.05.

An all-conference qualifier last year in both the 200-yard free and medley relays, Zais paces the Lyons this year with 11 individual victories and 19 overall event wins, and she is tied for the team lead by swimming a leg for eight winning relay quartets.

At 6-5-1 overall, Wheaton hits the road for the remainder of the regular season, beginning with a double-dual meet on Tuesday at Division II Bentley College that will include local foe Bridgewater State College. Action begins at 6:30 p.m.
