NORTON, MA- Wheaton College women's swimming & diving standout Julia Wright (Pomfret, VT/Northfield Mount Hermon School) earned the first New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Diver-of-the-Week honor ever handed out during the league's initial season of weekly awards for the week ending on Sunday, November 2.

A freshman, Wright won twice in her first week of college action while taking second in another event. Against Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) on October 25, Wright bested four-athlete fields in both the one- and three-meter diving competitions to help the Lyons corral a 167-103 victory. On Friday, Wright was second in a five-diver field during the one-meter event against Roger Williams University in a 162-115 Wheaton win. She also captured a third-place showing among five athletes during the three-meter dive, falling 21.98 points short of first.

The Lyons, who are 2-0 for the eighth straight season, return to action against visiting Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Wheaton hosts 10 of its initial 11 events this year, hitting the road only for the MIT Invitational on December 5 and 6 between the beginning of the schedule and late January.
