NORTON, MA- Wheaton College field hockey standout Alisa Ardito (Branford, CT/Branford) was selected co-player of the week from the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) for the second time in her career. She shared the award with Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) senior Nicole Maglione for the week ending on Sunday, November 2.

The senior forward's five-point week helped extend Wheaton's program-best winning streak against league foes to six games, as she scored a pair of goals during Thursday's regular season finale against Wellesley College in leading the Lyons to the second seed in the NEWMAC Tournament. She also assisted the overtime game-winning goal in Saturday's quarterfinal victory over Smith College.

Ardito's first-half tallies during Wheaton's 3-2 home win versus Wellesley on Senior Day helped Wheaton snap an 18-game skid against the Blue, as the second goal gave the Lyons the lead for good. Her winning assist in Saturday's 2-1 victory against visiting Smith came off a penalty corner just 3:49 into the extra frame, sending Wheaton to its third straight league tournament semifinal.

Raising her season totals to 11 assists and 23 points, Ardito is tied for first in program history on the assists chart and tied for ninth in points. She has played a hand in 17 of Wheaton's most recent 31 goals. In her career, Ardito owns school record with 33 assists and 81 games played and is third in points (89) and goals (28).

Ardito and the 12-6 Lyons head to Springfield College this weekend, as Wheaton is matched up against third seed Wellesley in a NEWMAC Tournament semifinal on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Sunday's title game is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
