NORTON, MA- Wheaton College men's soccer standout Cole Davidson (Needham, MA/Salisbury School) was selected Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Defensive Player of the Week and New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Player of the Week for the week ending on Sunday, October 26.

Davidson yielded just one goal in 200 minutes during Wheaton's 1-0-1 week, including helping hand Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) its first conference blemish behind a scoreless tie in Cambridge on Saturday. Against the Engineers, who had been averaging 2.9 goals, Davidson posted five stops for his first shutout of the season and fifth in a Wheaton uniform to improve to 7-2-3 this fall

Before playing a prominent role in giving MIT just its second shutout in 23 games, Davidson collected a non-conference victory during the Blue and White's 4-1 home triumph against Worcester State College on Wednesday. He made a pair of saves against the Lancers.

With one regular season game remaining at league foe Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) on Saturday at 1:00 p.m., Wheaton looks to reach a double-figure win total for the 17th consecutive year, as the Lyons are 9-4-3 on the fall and 1-3-1 in league play. The Blue and White can finish as high as a tie for fourth in the regular season standings.
