Reddy notches second win, Wheaton teams turn in season-best showings

BOSTON, MA- Senior Lauren Reddy (Walnut Creek, CA/Carondelet) won for the second time in three weeks, and the Wheaton College men's and women's cross country teams turned in their best placements of the year on Friday during the Saints Invitational in Franklin Park. The Lyon women won their 13-school race, while the men were second among 10 teams.

Wheaton's women collected 25 points, while no other team had fewer than 104. Each of its seven scoring runners finished before eight other schools' fastest harrier crossed the finish line. On the men's side, the Blue and White had 69 points, five fewer than third-place New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) counterpart Babson College. Johnson & Wales University won the competition with 49 points.

Reddy won her race in a time of 19:03, coming in 17 seconds faster than the second-place runner. Senior Amanda Rawson (Dudley, MA/Shepherd Hill Regional) was third at 19:27, while classmate Lily Calderwood (Harvard, MA/Bromfield School) took fourth in 19:30.

Each of Wheaton's next four runners was among the top 14, as freshman Rachel Scavera (North Bend, OR/North Bend) placed ninth, senior Megan O'Sadnick (Evergreen, CO/Evergreen) was 11th, first-year Kimberly Nash (Tempe, AZ/McClintock) took 12th, and sophomore Erin Jaske (Highlands Ranch, CO/Rock Canyon) came in 14th during her first race of the season.

During his initial competition this fall, sophomore Nick Kacher (Waltham, MA/Waltham) placed sixth thanks to a time of 27:16, while classmate Colin Fahey (Waltham, MA/Weston) finished 10th. Senior Scott Hafferkamp (Merrimack, NH/Merrimack) was 14th, and freshman Todd Woodworth (Weston, MA/Middlesex School) also placed among the top third by crossing the line in 23rd.

Wheaton's teams take a week off before returning to Franklin Park for their third straight race on Saturday, November 1, when they compete in the NEWMAC Championship. The men begin at 11:00 a.m. before the women start at 12:00 p.m.
