Lyons stretch win streak to four with 3-0 sweep at Mount Holyoke

SOUTH HADLEY, MA- The Wheaton College women's volleyball team extended its winning streak to four matches Tuesday night following a 3-0 (25-11, 25-18, 25-22) sweep at Mount Holyoke College in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) contest in Howard Gymnasium.
Collecting their fourth successive sweep, the Lyons picked up their first league win to improve to 9-16 overall and 1-5 in conference play. Mount Holyoke falls to 4-7 while remaining winless in the NEWMAC at 0-6.
Junior Lauren Kraus (Westboro, MA/Westboro) and freshman Miranda Howitt (San Francisco, CA/International) paced the Wheaton attack with 10 and nine kills, respectively, with Kraus also adding four aces and Howitt six digs. Sophomore setter Becca Rose (Sudbury, MA/Lincoln-Sudbury Regional) also had three aces to go alongside her 28 assists.
Freshman Emily Davisson (Carpinteria, CA/Laguna Blanca School) and sophomore Kristen Hunt (Milford, CT/Jonathan Law) recorded 17 and eight digs, respectively. Hunt also dropped down four aces.
Senior Chelsea Tracy (Saint Thomas, Virgin Islands/Antilles) led Mount Holyoke with eight kills, six digs and four blocks. Sophomore Kateryna Kuc (New Haven, CT/Hopkins) distributed 13 assists, while classmate Rosa Marruffo (Tulsa, OK/Bishop Kelley) and senior Amanda Trask (Brockton, MA/Brockton) added 10 and nine digs, respectively.
Wheaton is back in action on Friday for a non-conference match against Western Connecticut State University, as the Lyons kick off Homecoming weekend at 7:00 p.m.
