WORCESTER, MA- The Wheaton College women's tennis team rolled to its eighth shutout of the season on Saturday afternoon when the Lyons swept host Clark University, 9-0 in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match.

Collecting double-digit victories for the third successive season, Wheaton raised its overall record to 10-1 while keeping pace with Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for second place in the NEWMAC standings at 5-1. The Lyons host the Engineers on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. Clark fell to 3-8 and 0-6.

Sophomores Sarah Geocaris (Newport Beach, CA/Sage Hill School) and Catherine Teague (Manchester, NH/Central) continued their conference prowess with an 8-1 triumph at first doubles, while junior Katherine Knies (Purdys, NY/North Salem) and freshman Allesandra DiOrio (Cumberland, RI/Lincoln School) notched an 8-2 decision at number two.

Senior Mallory Farmer (Washington, CT/The Gunnery) and sophomore Ellen Van Faasen (Manchester, MA/Manchester Essex Regional) completed the doubles sweep with an 8-5 win in the third position, as the pair sided for just the second time this fall.

Three Wheaton players blanked their foes in singles action, including DiOrio, Knies and Farmer at three, five and six, respectively. Geocaris surrendered just one game in the second slot, Teague allowed two at number one and Van Faasen three at four.
