Women's Tennis (7-0, 2-0) Players Geocaris and Teague Win Twice at ITA Regionals
The Wheaton College women's tennis team, which is ranked 24th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) Northeast poll, sent a pair of players to the ITA Regional Tournament over the weekend at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where sophomores Sarah Geocaris (Newport Beach, CA/Sage Hill School) and Catherine Teague (Manchester, NH/Central) advanced to the quarterfinal round of the doubles bracket. In Friday's opening round, Geocaris and Teague edged the tournament's third-seeded tandem from Vassar College, 9-8, before downing a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) counterpart from MIT, 8-6 in the second round on Saturday. The Lyons dropped an 8-3 decision to a seeded Tufts University duo in the quarterfinals. During the singles portion of the tournament, Geocaris and Teague each fell to a seeded player in the opening round.
