Field Hockey (4-5) Drops NEWMAC Opener to Mount Holyoke in Lone Contest of Week
The Wheaton College field hockey team opened its New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) slate by falling at Mount Holyoke College, 2-0 on Saturday in its lone contest.
Wheaton held a 14-8 advantage in penalty corners, but the hosts edged the Blue and White in shots, 16-15 and scored both markers during the opening 9:15. Junior Andrea Bagley (Foxboro, MA/Foxboro) turned aside eight shots between the pipes.
In addition to standing first in assists, senior Alisa Ardito (Branford, CT/Branford) remained third in program history in points (75) and fourth in goals (24). She is three markers shy of third, while junior Alex Block's (Saratoga, CA/Saratoga) 17 goals leave her three short of the top 10.
