NORTON, MA- Wheaton College women's tennis standouts Sarah Geocaris (Newport Beach, CA/Sage Hill School) and Catherine Teague (Manchester, NH/Central) were tabbed New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Doubles Team of the Week for the second time this season for the week ending on Sunday, September 28.

The sophomore duo had an impressive run at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Regional Tournament over the weekend at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), winning twice and advancing to the quarterfinal round. Geocaris and Teague first edged the third-seeded tandem in the bracket from Vassar College, 9-8 on Friday before picking up an 8-6 victory on Saturday over a pair from MIT.

In the quarterfinals, Wheaton's duo lost an 8-3 decision to a Tufts team that was one of eight seeded in the tournament and eventually finished as the runner-up. The Lyons were one of only two non-New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) squads among the final eight, with NEWMAC counterpart Wellesley College supplying the other.

As a pairing, Geocaris and Teague are 8-1 this fall, having helped Wheaton to a 7-0 team start. In singles action, Geocaris has gone 7-1, while Teague is 6-1, as each suffered her first loss this fall during the opening round of the singles portion of the ITA Regional Tournament.

The Lyons, who are ranked 24th in the ITA's Northeast poll, take a 2-0 league mark into their match at four-time reigning league tournament champ Wellesley on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.
