Men's and Women's Track and Field Compete at All New England Championship

The Wheaton College men's and women's outdoor track and field teams competed at the All New England Championship last weekend at Dartmouth College, where the women placed ninth and the men tied for 24th out of all participating squads from the NCAA's three divisions.

Sophomore Chizoba Ezeigwe (Brockton, MA/Thayer Academy) provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championship by winning the 200-meter dash with a personal best of 24.60, while she also pushed the 4x100M and 4x400M relay teams to provisional marks. Ezeigwe joined senior All-American Jennifer Harlow (East Bridgewater, MA/East Bridgewater), sophomore Samira Sanders (Brooklyn, NY/Boys and Girls) and freshman Renee Thompson (Hartford, CT/Weaver) on the 4x100M relay quartet, which finished 0.07 seconds out of first. In the 4x400M relay, Ezeigwe and Thompson combined with sophomores Lily Calderwood (Harvard, MA/Bromfield School) and Celeste Karpow (Wilton, CT/Wilton). Harlow tied for fourth in the high jump and recorded a provisional time in the 100M hurdles at 14.91. Freshman Howard Powell (Brooklyn, NY/Boys and Girls) was the lone male Lyon to compete, recording an NCAA provisional time in the 110M hurdles during a runner-up finish of 14.65.
