Wheaton evens record with 18-3 victory at the University of Dallas

IRVING, TX- The Wheaton College women's lacrosse team evened its record on Friday at 2-2, downing the University of Dallas, 18-3 on Crusader Field during the first of two contests it will play at the institution this weekend. The hosts fell to 0-6 on the season.

Wheaton built a 16-0 lead by halftime thanks to a 24-2 advantage in shots. During the second stanza, the University of Dallas outscored the Lyons, 3-2 by taking eight of the 15 shots in the period.

Seven Lyons scored in the contest, as junior Madeline Williams (Annapolis, MD/Key School) led the way by netting a career-high seven goals. Senior Meredith Hurd (Bath, ME/Hyde School) added four markers, while juniors Caitlin Grant (Walpole, MA/Walpole) and Bridget Thornton (Southington, CT/Cheshire Academy) tallied twice apiece. Freshman Annalisa Carson (Yarmouth, ME/Yarmouth) made five saves for Wheaton, which finished with a 31-10 advantage in shots.

Three different players scored for the Crusaders, while freshman Anna Massey (Amarillo, TX) had 10 saves.

Wheaton returns to the field at the University of Dallas on Sunday, as the Lyons take on local rival Salve Regina University at 10:00 a.m.
