Hurd receives NEWMAC Co-Player-of-the-Week accoladeApril 9, 2007
A junior, Hurd led the Lyons with 14 goals and 15 points during a 2-1 week, connecting on 58.3 percent of her shots and picking up eight draw controls. Against Mount Holyoke College on Saturday, she led Wheaton to a 15-8 victory behind five goals, an assist, and five draw controls. On Thursday, Hurd scored seven times against Bridgewater State College, including twice in the final 47.7 seconds of regulation and once in overtime to give the Lyons an 11-10 win. She also tallied her 100th career goal during the contest. In Wheaton's setback at nationally-ranked Babson College on Tuesday, Hurd notched two goals. As the main offensive force on a team that averages 8.78 goals, Hurd has team highs of 26 tallies and 29 points. She has accumulated nearly one third of Wheaton's goals this season and is tied for sixth in the league in tallies and tied for 10th in points. In her 41-game career, Hurd has 109 goals and 118 points, and she's looking for her third straight season of at least 34 goals. Wheaton has won three of its last four games after an 0-5 start. The Blue and White currently stands 3-6 overall and 2-1 in the NEWMAC, tying for third in the league standings. Wellesley College comes to town tomorrow for a 4:30 p.m. contest on Keefe Field.
