Cronin named ECAC Division III New England All-Star

June 16, 2006

NORTON, MA- Former Wheaton College women's lacrosse standout Molly Cronin (Brownsville, VT/Woodstock Union), who graduated last month, has been named to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) All-Star second team.

Of the 24 student-athletes named to the ECAC first and second teams, Cronin was one of only two hailing from a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) institution and was among just six defenders.

Cronin earned a pair of additional honors earlier this month, drawing a spot on the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division III all-region team and landing a NEWMAC All-Conference accolade.

As one of Wheaton's backfield anchors, Cronin helped the Lyons finish third in the NEWMAC in goals against average. She started all 16 games, led Wheaton with 39 caused turnovers, finished second with 34 ground balls, and tied for fourth with 17 draw controls. She finished her career with 106 caused turnovers and 74 draw controls.

Wheaton went 9-7 overall and 5-1 in the conference this spring, as the Lyons advanced to the NEWMAC Tournament title game for the fifth consecutive season. Wheaton placed second in the regular season conference standings.
